Split Snatch
The split snatch was the traditional form of the snatch until the 1950s and 1960s when the squat style gained popularity. While not as popular today, it is accepted by USAW. During the CF Games, it is oven utilized by masters competitors. It is also a good alternative for those with limited mobility or injuries.
As we get closer to the Open workouts I want you to have the Split Snatch as an option if we get Power Snatches thrown at us. This, of course, won’t be our best option for a workout with high voume.
Much like last week in the Split Clean, we will review the differences in the Split Snatch vs the Squat Snatch, work with some weight (go for a PR if you’re feelin it) and then we’ll complete a short workout. In the workout, you can either do power snatches or the split snatch.
Complete as many rounds and reps as possible in 7 minutes of:
10 power snatches 75/55
6 dips
